Helpful Forgiveness Hint When Forgiveness Is Difficult for You

We need to change your view of who you are as a person if you have been stuck in unforgiveness and are discouraged.  The world will tell you that you are less than you should be if your loved ones reject you.  Do not listen to the world.  I have seen that it is all too easy to condemn yourself when others first condemn you.  Fight against that, starting now.Inherent Worth

Who are you as a person?  You are someone who has inherent worth even when you struggle in life.  You are someone who is special, unique, and irreplaceable even if you have unhealthy anger in your heart.  You are not—-you are not—-a failure at forgiveness.  Remember that forgiveness is a process and this takes time.  Please do not be harsh on yourself if you are struggling with the process.  How you are doing in this process today is not an indication of where you will be in this process one month from now.  Who are you?

That’s me you just described. I can lose self-esteem when my family gets on me and so it is important that I stay aware of that. When I don’t then I can get irritated with them and then I really am disappointed with myself.

So true. I have to catch myself whenever I find myself talking negatively about me. It happens all too often and sometimes without my willed permission. I just fall into this negativism. Thank you for the reminder that this need not be the way I will live in the inner world of my own thoughts about myself. There is a better way.

I just read the blog posted after this, the one that focuses on the word “stand.” This is the kind of person I want to see myself as being, one who stands and faces evil and does not give up.

This is a call to patience, with oneself and with the process of forgiveness itself. Otherwise, we are hurt not only by the other’s nonsense but then also by one’s own condemnation. And I for one do not want the person to beat me up twice like this.
