Toward Forgiveness Education: A Thought Experiment for You

Picture a wide-eyed, innocent 6-year-old child. She is full of life and expectation for her future. When age 21, she Girl5married an abusive man who was cruel to her. They had 2 children together before he abandoned the family. She never had forgiveness education. Her anger spilled over to her children who grew up unhappy and angry. Now imagine that this 6-year-old childĀ had forgiveness education from age 6 through age 18. When she encountered her cruel husband, she immediately began to forgive him. He was still cruel and still abandoned the family. Yet, she stood firm in her forgiveness, reduced her anger, and gave a legacy of love rather than anger to her growing children. We **need** forgiveness education.

I think we all would be better off if the schools had the courage to present forgiveness education. This is one of the most important ideas I have heard for bettering humanity.

I have come to realize that forgiveness helps to preserve the wonder of life for us. It can restore the glow of childhood in us as adults. Resentment and disappointment can rob us of that wonder.

It may be getting harder and harder for school administrators to choose programs other than what you have been featuring lately here at this site. It shines.
